HEIMSKRINGLA HEIMSKRINGLA is an online collection of Old Norse source material, primarily Eddas, Icelandic sagas, scaldic poetry, and some background material. HEIMSKRINGLA consists of some 6500 titles in the Old Norse language or translated into the modern Scandinavian languages. HEIMSKRINGLA builds on the assumption that these texts – being part of our cultural heritage – should be made available for everybody. HEIMSKRINGLA is subject to the laws of copyright. Consequently we are restricted when it comes to more recent publications. HEIMSKRINGLA is run as an idealistic project. Therefore we always need volunteers. AKTUELT digitalt Islandske Annaler By Gustav Storm Annals constitute a separate genre of their own in medieval literature. They record chronological lists of events of each year in and around Iceland. Because of their brief and almost key word-like style, the value of the annals is not a literary one but a historical. They are important sources to medieval history. In the year 1888 historian Gustav Storm gathered and published all the Icelandic Annals. This great work has now been fully digitalized and is available on Heimskringla. Usually scholars go to the Old Norse sources for information about Norse mythology and pre-Christian religion in Scandinavia. But in this book the Swedish linguist Magnus Fredrik Lundgren takes another starting point, investigating if the language itself – independently of the Eddaic poems and Snorris mythology – contains reliable tracks of "pagan beliefs". A: The aim is to make "Norrøne Tekster og Kvad" as comprehensive as possible. In practice the greatest limitation is the acquisition of text material. It goes without saying that such a wide-ranging project cannot be completed in all fields at the same time.
