HEIMSKRINGLA HEIMSKRINGLA is the largest collection of Old Norse and Nordic source texts on the internet – currently some 7300 titles. HEIMSKRINGLA primarily consists of eddic texts, sagas, and scaldic poetry, secondarily of background material and sources related to Sami culture. HEIMSKRINGLA is based on the belief that these texts – as part of our common cultural heritage – should be freely available to everyone.		SHOP
WE PRESENT: digitalized Snorre Sturlassons historieskrivning by Gustav Storm Gustav Storm's major work (and doctoral thesis) on Snorri Sturluson's historical writings was ground-breaking for the textual-critical approach to saga literature. Initially, Storm traces the development of Norwegian-Icelandic historical writing. He investigates the predecessors of Snorri Sturluson and his sources such as Íslendingabók, Ágríp, Morkinskinna, Fagrskinna, and others. After a brief analysis of Snorri as both author and historian, Storm moves on to conduct a methodical examination of the king's sagas in Heimskringla, identifying the sources Snorri used for each saga. Finally, Storm reviews the manuscripts of Snorri's sagas.	WE PRESENT: on print Den ældre Edda By Finnur Magnússon, 1821-23 Finnur Magnússon's translation of the Poetic Edda is the first Danish translation of all the Eddic poems (excluding Rígsþula but including a couple of Edda-like poems that are not considered part of the Edda). It was published in four volumes between 1821-23. The project was ambitious, spanning approximately 1200 pages. Apart from the Danish translation of the poems, the work included extensive introductions, interpretations, and annotations. This reissue contains only Magnússon's Danish translation with notes.
