English artist, 1854-1932 In the summer of 1897 writer and artist W. G. Collingwood spent three months in Iceland visiting and painting important sagasteads. This resulted in more than 300 sketches and watercolours. Today most of these are exhibited in the National Museum of Iceland, Reykjavik. On Heimskringla you can see aprox. 170 of his watercolours and the collection will be expanded as we publish Historisk-topografisk beskrivelse af Island by Kr. Kålund. | |
